Your immune system is capable of protecting you and getting rid of herpes. The immune system will even get rid of HIV and in many people this is happening. In America it is a common myth that vaccines are the answer to creating immunity, but that is so far from the truth, but widely believed.
If you focus on building your immune system to make it strong, eat well, and take care of yourself, you will be far ahead of the general public. Just getting your vitamin D3 levels up to the 60 to 70 nanograms per deciliter will help far better than any vaccine or most other preventative measures. Avoiding toxic foods like SOY, vegetable oils like canola, soybean, cottonseed, and corn oils will go a long way to helping that immunity. Getting out in the sun everyday will boost that immunity.
If you have ever come in contact with a herpes virus, you do NOT EVER, EVER WANT TO GET THAT DANGEROUS GARDISIL SHOT! If you have had any herpes virus, you stand a 44.6% greater chance of getting cervical cancer if you get that shot.
good luck to you

You have to get a blood test for HIV. HIV can go undetected in the blood for 6 months to 1 year after contact with a questionable partner.
Chlamydiae, Syphilis, Gonorrhea are all checked by a swab test (genital or oral).
There are NO tests for genital warts or herpes. When symptoms are present you visit your doctor and they examine the affected area. They then confirm or deny the disease at that time.
This is about herpes not HIV.
It’s possible but not too common to go that long with out having signs or symptoms. Most people show symptoms of a break out with in 1-3 weeks after being exposed or infected. But there is a chance that your immune system could be suppressing the virus, If you have a healthy immune system you may not get as many signs or symptoms as the average person.
You should know it’s also possible not to get herpes from some one that has it, it’s not always passed on. If he didn’t have a break out at the time you had sex and if he was taking any suppressants or antiviral medication then you wouldn’t be likely to get it. But you can always have a test done for herpes by your doctor to clear things up.
